Faculty of Education offers competitive education and research. In addition to basic instruction in the science of education and teacher training, we offer new, pioneering programmes; students can, for example, choose an outdoor learning-oriented pathway in primary teacher training or specialise in media education in the education degree programme.
The founding principle in all our instruction is inclusion, which is based on sense of community, integration of theory and practice, and investigative and active learning. In our interdisciplinary research we strive to build multi-professional cooperation to improve the well-being of children and the youth. We also conduct research on playful learning environments, simulation pedagogy and the possibilities and states of northern agents in the transformation of education and work.
We are an internationally active faculty and part of numerous research networks. For example, we coordinate the UArctic's Teacher Education for Social Justice and Diversity in Education network and participate in Sino-Finnish Joint Learning Innovation Institute.
