Unit for Gender Studies

The primary research areas of Gender Studies are education, work and northern life from the perspectives of gender, sexuality and the Arctic sphere. Together with the opportunity to analyse practical issues, we offer you the chance to embark on a theoretical and philosophical adventure to the basic questions of research.

In Gender Studies it is possible to take basic and extended minor studies, advanced studies, master's degree studies and even continue all the way to Doctor of Philosophy. English-speaking students can complete our English-taught minor study module (25 ECTS cr.).

We are active partners in the national Network for Gender Studies HILMA, the Centre for Gender Equality Information, European Atgender network and DeSo – Design Society network.

You are welcome to use the Gender Studies library, which is found in the office of the university lecturer. You can borrow books during the office hour or whenever the teacher is present.

We inform our students of topical issues on our email list, which you can join by sending email to the administrative secretary Leena Inkeröinen: firstname.lastname@ulapland.fi.
