Plan your PSP in the Peppi system. We arrange PSP workshops for new students where you can learn to use Peppi and plan your studies in the Peppi system. Through the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL, AHOT in Finnish) you don’t need to re-study the things you already master. RPL, that is, credit transfer, can be applied for based on your previous studies and/or competence you have acquired through other means. Think about the kind of new expertise you want to acquire with your education and how it will be built upon your previous expertise. If you want to include completely new minor subjects in your degree, including prior studies in your degree might not be applicable.

If you want to apply for transferring credits, do the following:

You can apply for inclusion of studies completed elsewhere or apply for substitution for studies included in your degree with corresponding studies you have completed elsewhere. You can also substitute studies included in your degree with expertise you have gotten from, for example, continuing education, liberal adult education institutions’ education, other jobs, short programmes at jobs, working in projects and positions of trust as well as from hobbies. Read more: Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) | University of Lapland

Minor subjects refer to the studies that a degree student completes and includes in their degree in addition to the major subject of their degree programme. Minor subject studies allow you to shape your degree to match your own goals, tendencies and career plans. As a student, you can choose courses provided by different degree programmes, faculties, Lapland University of Applied Sciences or other domestic or foreign higher education institutions based on your own interests. Courses from open universities or summer universities are also a possibility. In our university, students can freely choose minor subjects.

In minor subjects, you complete the core and intermediate studies of your chosen subject. Consequently, the major subjects of different faculties are suitable as minor subjects for students with different majors. Video presentations of minor subjects will be uploaded to the website in the autumn of 2023.
