Long-term cooperation in research and development

The University of Lapland’s Education and Development Services offer a wide range of services and training for businesses, organisations and private individuals. All activities are based on the University of Lapland’s strong expertise, northern innovations and development needs arising from both the region and working life. 

Most of the research conducted at our university is public. Cooperation in research projects is often based on the client’s interest towards the research topic, and it often requires a nominal contribution to the project funding. In exchange, the business or cooperation partner receives first-hand information on the research already while it is being conducted, for example through participating in the steering group of the research or in other research measures.

Extensive development projects

The University of Lapland’s Education and Development Services also provide different kinds of development projects for businesses and organisations upon request. When it comes to planning and implementing development projects, we cooperate closely with businesses and our cooperation partners. The business commits to the development project by contributing significantly to the funding, thereby enabling the development of its own operations, products or services in cooperation with the university and other domestic or international partners.

Our university students are motivated to take on traineeships and different kinds of work assignments. They are interested in applying their education in practical work and learning something new in the process.

As an employer, you can offer traineeships through the University of Lapland’s Career and Recruitment Services throughout the year.

Recruit a trainee

Our university students have up-to-date knowledge of their field and strong IT and language skills, all of which are valuable assets for your organisation. As an employer, you can offer traineeships of varying lengths for university students and graduates on the Aarressaari website, free of charge.

Expert trainees for working life

A couple dozen top-level experts of different fields graduate from the University of Lapland’s doctoral programmes each year. The university actively supports the operations of different sectors of society and working life, as well as strengthens the employment opportunities and professional growth of future doctoral graduates. To further these goals, we are looking for public, private and association sector organisations interested in research, development and project cooperation who are ready to offer expert traineeship positions for future doctoral graduates.

Sponsorships of the University of Lapland

The principles of sponsoring build on the values of the University of Lapland as well as support its strategy. Societal responsibility and influential operation play a crucial role in selecting targets of cooperation. 

Primarily, the University of Lapland sponsors projects that promote one or more of the following three dimensions:

· The well-being, equality and culture of the Arctic and people therein

· Northern science, art and expertise

· Sustainable ecological or social development and the university’s social responsibility.

Promoting these issues is also expected to increase the appeal of the university and create a positive image of us.
