Multidisciplinarity is our strength

Two research assessments have been conducted at the University of Lapland. The research assessment 2022–2023 is the first full-scale assessment that covers all the university’s research activities between 2015 and 2021. The most important goal of the assessment was to form an overall picture of our research quality, volume, impact and areas of development.

In the assessment, multidisciplinarity and collaboration between sciences were mentioned as the strengths of our research.

Academic peer review

The quality management of research at the University of Lapland is mainly based on academic peer review.

The University of Lapland has signed the international DORA declaration (San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment) and the European research assessment agreement (The Agreement on Reforming Research Assessment, 2022). By doing so, the university has committed to the responsible assessment of research and researchers, as well as to the transparency, equality and diversity of the assessment.
