Faculty-specific instructions for studies

General writing instructions

Writing and assessing academic texts plays a significant role in higher education. Please familiarise yourself with our general writing instructions concerning e.g. academic text types, layout and referencing.

Lecture log
You can earn credits by attending our guest lectures, seminars and public defences related to art and design, marking them on your lecture log and producing a lecture journal. Lectures organised outside of our university must be pre-approved by a professor in your degree programme.

Copyrights of project and thesis work

Familiarise yourself with the copyrights of the students’ project and thesis work.

Please print out and sign the agreement on the rights of your project work and theses.

Exams

You can take the written exams according to your own schedule using the EXAM system after the course has ended. For more information, please contact the teacher responsible for the course.

Assessment of study attainments

A numerical rating scale of 0 to 5 (in integers) or verbal assessment pass/fail is used in the assessment of study attainments.

Publication of exam results

The results of examinations are published within three weeks of the date of examination or the date of submission of written work. If the results cannot, where there is a valid reason, be published within the set time frame, they must be published within six weeks.

The results of exams arranged between the 1st of June and the 31st of August may be published later than what was stated above, however, no later than within three weeks of an examination arranged in August. Written work submitted during the summer will be assessed and the assessment results will be published during September, at the latest.
