Tuition fees and scholarships

The tuition fee in the master’s degree programmes of the University of Lapland for the autumn 2026 intake is 13 000 euros (€) per academic year. Below we have collected information about how and when to pay the tuition fee, as well as about scholarships and conditions for scholarships.

Who is liable to pay tuition fees?

A student is liable to pay tuition fees to the University of Lapland if they are not a citizen of a European Union / European Economic Area country or Switzerland and if they do not have a type of residence permit to Finland which exempts them from the fee.

More information on who is required to pay tuition fees.

If a student currently holds a residence permit which exempts from the fee and the permit expires, the student becomes liable to pay the tuition fee. In this case the student is liable to pay the tuition fee from the next academic term onwards.
