Short Mobilities Abroad

Go for a short mobility! Utilize multiple opportunities to go international during your studies. You can gain international experience, language, or other skills, eg, during summer. Include short mobility programs like intensive courses abroad, language courses, and summer schools in your studies. You can always apply when you find a suitable option.

Search Instructions

Short exchange opportunities are offered from time to time. Opportunities are announced on this page (below the instructions), on the faculty and program email lists. If you are interested in a short exchange, please contact your responsible teacher or outgoing (at) ulapland.fi.

 

You will receive detailed instructions on the exchange process. You will receive an invitation from your responsible teacher or Internationalisation Services.

  • Apply for exchange electronically in the SoleMOVE system: www.ulapland.fi/solemove
  • Start your application by selecting the correct application form (Application form for short mobility) and mobility type (Study / Traineeship).
  • Remember the application attachments, which will be specified for each course in the guidance session.
  • All applications must include the following: Things to consider during the mobility period abroad (form), signed, link
  • Note: The SoleMOVE application must be made before the start of the exchange, preferably as soon as you have been accepted for the course.
  • Mobility type: Blended Mobility
  • You can check the description of the virtual study part with the responsible teacher or by participating in the information.
  • The number of credits must be at least 3 ECTS.
  • Note: For short traineeships (max 30 days) use Learning Agreement for Traineeship in PDF-format.

Always start the application from a confirmed exchange in the SoleMOVE system. Grants are paid twice a month, on the 15th and last day of the month. The processing time for the payment of grants is three weeks from the receipt of the SoleGRANT application.

Grants available through our university

When doing a short mobility abroad and getting your credits accepted to your degree, you are eligible for a mobility grant. The amount of the grant depends on many things:

  • mobility programme (Erasmus+, Nordplus, other)
  • mobility type (study, traineeship)
  • destination (European, Nordic & Baltic, overseas)
  • type of mobility (only physical, blended)
  • organisation of the mobility (project funded, mobility funded)
  • potential top-ups (Fewer opportunities, Green travel, Inclusion support)

You should always attend course specific info session or consultation on office hours. You will receive course specific instruction to apply for right grant.

Erasmus+ Short Blended Mobility Grants

Erasmus+ grants are determined according to the duration of the exchange. The grant is paid for the physical mobility period of the course (5–30 days).The grant is 79 €/day for days 5–14 and 56 €/day for days 15–30.

In addition, students will receive travel support for their mobility and are entitled to two grant-funded travel days.

Erasmus+ travel grant

The Erasmus+ travel grant is determined based on the distance between the city of the home university and the city of the exchange destination (length of the one-way trip in kilometers).
The travel distance is calculated with the Distance Calculator of the Erasmus+ program (link to the calculator).

You can apply for additional Green Travel support if you travel using an environmentally friendly means of transport (bus, train, carpool or bicycle). At least half of the journeys must be made using the aforementioned green means of transport. You can find more information in the Green Travel declaration form (link to the form).

Nordplus Express Mobility

Express mobility grants:

  • 250 € 1st week,
  • 100 € 2nd week,
  • 100 € 3rd week
  • 20 € additional day

Travel grant:

  • 330 € Nordic & Baltic countries
  • 660 € Iceland
  • 1300 € Greenland
  • 175 € domestic travel top-up (only, when related to travelling abroad)

Freemover

Short Mobility Grant all destinations 200 €

Fewer opportunities support

Fewer opportunities support for short-term mobility is €100 when the exchange lasts 2 to 14 days and €150 when the exchange lasts 15 to 30 days. You can find more information about the support and the grant criteria in the Fewer Opportunities form (link to the form)

During your exchange, check how and when you will receive your Letter of Confirmation and Transcript of Records documents. These will usually only be received after the virtual part, if any, has ended.

By carefully completing the eAHOT application, you will speed up the processing of your application. You can find step-by-step instructions for completing the application in the Peppi instructions. Please pay particular attention to what type of credit transfer you are applying for (replacement or inclusion) and to whom the application should be addressed!

  • Fill out feedback in SoleMOVE
  • Fill out the EU Survey if you were on an Erasmus+ exchange

Short Mobilities Opportunities

The Center for Security Studies is delighted to invite PhD candidates to a summer school focusing on how populism shapes the foreign and security policies of Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries amid complex global crises.

Participants will explore three core areas:

i) the themes and narratives drivingpopulist foreign and security policy

ii) the means of communication through which these narratives are conveyed, and

iii) their specific manifestations acrosub-regions and countries in Central and Eastern Europe.

The program fostersncritical engagement with these topics through a blend of seminars, practical training, and collaborative research opportunities, culminating in a final conference a potential publication in CEJISS (Central European Journal of International and Security Studies).

The MCI Summer Program 2025 will take place from June 2 until June 27. This immersive four-week program gives students hands-on experience in business, entrepreneurship, and innovation. Studying in Innsbruck exposes students to a perfect blend of academic and cultural experiences as well as to opportunities to explore the Alps and breathtaking cultural sites.
