Equality and non-discrimination

The University of Lapland is committed to promoting equality and non-discrimination among the members of the university community. The University of Lapland requires its staff, students and other community members to conduct themselves in a responsible and respectful manner.

The Equality Committee, appointed by the rector, monitors and promotes the realisation of equality and non-discrimination at the university.


Equality Committee

Appointed by the rector, the Equality Committee

  • promotes the realisation of the objectives of the Act on Equality between Women and Men
  • promotes measures provided in the Non-discrimination Act
  • ensures that the university has a valid equality and non-discrimination plan
  • monitors the realisation of equality and non-discrimination and the relevant plans
  • promotes the development of procedures supporting equality and non-discrimination at the university
  • provides information and support to personnel and students regarding issues within its scope of operation
  • functions as a body dealing with equality issues in accordance with the cooperation agreement.

Equality and Non-Discrimination Plan 2025–2026

Our Equality and Non-Discrimination Plan guides us in our work on equality and non-discrimination. In the plan, we define our goals and measures as well as the parties responsible for them. We also describe the methods we use to monitor the realisation of our goals and measures. Additionally, the Equality and Non-Discrimination Plan includes a review of the current state of equality and non-discrimination.
