Safety

University of Lapland – a safe environment for learning and working

The well-being of students and staff is important to us. We want to offer our students and staff a safe environment for studying and working. We engage in proactive safety work and improve the overall safety of the university community.

All of us are responsible for safety and we all are needed in our safety work. Our shared goal is to improve and maintain a good safety culture as a fixed part of our operations.

We all have a responsibility to assist in maintaining safety through our actions, to report on dangerous and threatening situations as well as on accidents and when needed, to take appropriate preventive and rescue measures within our capabilities.

Report a safety observation

Always report safety observations whenever you notice a hazard or identify a safety deviation. The aim of reporting safety observations is to improve the safety of work and study environments, operations, students, clients and staff. The reports are always handled confidentially.

How to report a safety observation:

Accident – an accident or injury
Close call – a dangerous situation that didn’t result in injury
Threatening or violent situation – mental or physical threat
Positive safety observation – a good practice or a safe solution
  2. Fill in the observation form
Write a short description of what you observed as well as when and where.
  3. Add a photo (optional)
You can attach a photo of the situation to the form if it helps us better understand your observation.
