Collection of Kari Huhtamo Art Foundation

The sculptures on our premises provide a comprehensive look into Huhtamo’s personalised modernism. The roots of his way to express form lie in childhood landscapes and international abstract art.

Huhtamo’s expression takes form in cool, finished and sharp-cut steel surfaces, gravity defying tube and string constructions and reliefs playing on different levels.

The dialogue with the architecture and people emphasises the spontaneous vitality of the works, whereas the natural scenery of the university grounds highlights their constructive nature and finished form language.

The collection is completed by the sculpture Flamma Artis, which was ordered for the new Faculty of Art and Design facilities, inaugurated in 2006. Flamma Artis, flame of art, hangs from the ceiling of the main hall of the F-Building and reminds us that passion is essential to all creativity.
