Employment after graduation

Graduate Career Monitoring Surveys

The University of Lapland monitors the employment of its graduates through national career monitoring surveys. There are two surveys: Master’s Career Monitoring Survey, conducted five years after graduation for all graduates with a higher university degree. Doctoral Career Monitoring Survey, conducted three years after completing a doctoral degree.

Both surveys are carried out nationally in co-operation with all Finnish universities. In addition to employment outcomes, the surveys collect information on the skills and competencies needed in working life. The results also help the university evaluate how well its degree programmes meet the needs of the labour market. Results from the Doctoral Career Monitoring Survey are not published due to the small number of respondents (fewer than 15 per year).

Career Monitoring Results in the Vipunen Data Service

The results of the University of Lapland’s career monitoring surveys can also be explored in the Finnish National Agency for Education’s Vipunen statistics service. Vipunen compiles data from all universities participating in the national surveys.

In the Higher education section of Vipunen, you can browse the survey results both as table reports and as visualised data. The information can be filtered, for example, by field of study, university, or student nationality (Finnish vs. international).
