The main goal of the project is to promote the attractiveness of rural areas through regenerative services and local collaboration.

EHOMPI – Regenerative services and local collaboration as enablers of attractiveness in rural areas

These services are based on regenerative tourism, which focuses on increasing positive benefits for the local environment and community instead of merely minimizing negative impacts. Our aim is to specify what regenerative tourism services can look like in a rural context and how they can be implemented through local cooperation. The target audience for our project includes businesses, organizations, associations, and other stakeholders providing services in rural areas who are interested in developing their offerings using the regenerative tourism approach.

Objectives

  • Enhance the attractiveness of rural areas through innovative services and local collaboration.
  • Increase understanding of customer needs, preferences, and motivations related to regenerative services.
  • Generate and share information about best practices and experiences related to regenerative services, both locally and globally.

Funding and collaboration

The project is jointly implemented by Oulu University of Applied Sciences and the University of Lapland. The project is co-funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, and the funding has been granted by the North Ostrobothnia ELY Centre, whose responsibilities are currently managed by the Northern Finland Economic Development Centre.
