The aim of the project is to develop new types of innovation and product development activities in cooperation with educational institutions, creating opportunities for Arctic business to grow and develop.

New Forms of Heritage Wisdom 

This project is led by the University of Lapland’s Education and Development Services. The main idea is to use traditional business-oriented know-how to promote innovative solutions. During the project, a new kind of cooperation between the Sámi Regional Education Centre, the University of Lapland’s Industrial Design Department, the Education and Development Services and entrepreneurs will take place. 

Objectives
  • Create a resource-wise skills network through which businesses can develop and apply educational institutions’ core skills and knowledge. 
  • Carry out collaborative pilot projects in applied research and design related to winter fishing and mobile technology development. These pilot sectors need new technologies and related knowledge and skills in changing environments.
