Oikeusnotaari (ON) (in Finnish)

Oikeusnotaari (ON) is the standard Finnish undergraduate legal degree. Its scope is 180 ECTS credits and targeted completion time three years. Please note that the programme is offered only in Finnish and is primarily targeted for those seeking to practice law or work as lawyers in Finland.

Oikeustieteen maisteri (OTM) (in Finnish)

The oikeustieteen maisteri (OTM) is the standard Finnish graduate level legal degree. The degree consists of 120 ECTS. The right to study the undergraduate ON degree automatically grants the right to pursue the OTM degree. The OTM degree prepares students for a career in the judicial system, as well as for tasks in administration and business life. Please note that the programme is offered only in Finnish and is primarily targeted for those seeking to practice law or work as lawyers in Finland.

Oikeustieteen tohtori (OTT)

A Doctor of Laws degree is a pathway to becoming a legal scholar. In addition to the doctoral dissertation, the degree involves in-depth study of the chosen discipline, methodological and theoretical expertise, as well as academic skills such as teaching and research evaluation.

Right to pursue supplementing studies on the basis of the decision on the comparability of degrees

The Finnish National Agency for Education may recognise higher education studies completed abroad as comparable to a Master of Laws degree completed in Finland. If you have received a conditional decision on the recognition, requiring the completion of supplementing higher education studies, you can apply for the right to pursue the studies at our university. Please enclose a copy of the conditional decision to your application.
