We conduct extensive research that generates new applications and innovations. These can be utilised by the business sector and the industry, as well as the fields of art, culture, education and tourism, along with leisure and well-being services.

In addition, we provide specialised master’s programmes where students can deepen their expertise and broaden their career opportunities. These programmes are taught either in Finnish or in English, opening doors for both local and international students.

Art, design and media

The Faculty of Art and Design strengthens Arctic and northern art and culture through its internationally recognised art, design, education and research.

Together with business and community partners, we also create new innovations and applications to meet the needs of different sectors. Our state-of-the-art design and art laboratories and studios provide an excellent environment for this work.

Through our diverse international networks, we open pathways for students, researchers, artists, designers and partners to engage with culture, art and art education around the world.

In Rovaniemi, the faculty also maintains twelve galleries where we showcase art, design and media.
