About the Book: Njuike fárrui 1 

Njuike fárrui 1 is a study book developed within the HEI-SÁMI project (funded by the Nordplus Language), designed to support the learning of Northern Sámi through practical, interactive, and culturally meaningful content. The material aims to strengthen learners’ active language skills in everyday and professional contexts.

Authors of the Book: Maiju Saijets and Ilona Kivinen

Maiju Saijets is a doctoral researcher at the Faculty of Education, University of Lapland. Her research focuses on the media and robot literacy of Sámi-speaking older adults, examining how these literacies are shaped within linguistic and cultural contexts. Saijets also works as a researcher in the MediaRoboLit 65+ project (funded by the Research Council of Finland) and the INMERS project (European Education and Culture Executive Agency). In addition, she has experience teaching the Sámi language at the university level.

Ilona Kivinen is a University Lecturer in Sámi language at the University of Helsinki. She works in the field of Finno-Ugric linguistics and Sámi language studies, and is involved in both teaching and research related to Sámi language and culture. Her work includes developing Sámi language education as well as contributing to research projects and publications in the field.
