Tourism research at our university focuses on sustainable development and represents the so called Nordic School of Tourism Studies. It has an emphasis on responsibility, creativity and critical thinking in the study, planning and development of tourism.

The research done by the TourCIM faculty focuses on responsible tourism business through different theoretical lenses including problematising the construction of the field. A central idea of the research is to build more responsible and just tourism futures by re-thinking and re-shaping business practices, models and the wider society.

Our recent research has been dealing with themes such as nonhuman animal work in tourism, stakeholder theory, value creation in tourism experiences and social entrepreneurship in tourism.
