Abstract submission

Oral presentations
In thematic groups participants present and discuss ongoing or finished research in 90 minute sessions. Generally one session includes three presentations, when each presentation takes 20 minutes and time reserved for discussion is ten minutes per paper. Symposia are generally 90 minutes long including 3-4 invited presentations. Those proposing the symposia are also responsible for planning and arranging the symposia.

More specific programme with the presentation timetable together with the abstracts is published on the conference website in October.

Poster presentations
In poster exhibition participants have a possibility to present and discuss ongoing or finished research with the same scientific criteria as in paper sessions. Posters can be presented either by one person or a research group.

Posters will be on display during the whole event. Presenters will mount the posters as soon as they arrive at the venue and remove them before they leave. Presenters are expected to be ready to present their posters during breaks.

Poster size is A0 (portrait, 841 x 1189 mm).

How to submit an abstract?
The deadline for abstract submission is Monday 1 September 2025. Abstracts submitted to the thematic groups will be reviewed by thematic group leaders. Poster abstracts will be reviewed by the local organizing committee. Abstracts for the symposia are submitted by invited speakers.

Notification of acceptance will be sent out by 15 September 2025. Please note that some abstracts are still undergoing the review process. Due to this, the deadline for the early-bird registration fee has been extended to 30 September.

All abstracts must be submitted using the online submission system. Abstracts sent by email will be ignored. Maximum abstract length is 250 words. Accepted abstracts will be published on the event website.

NB. If you are submitting a poster abstract, choose poster as both category and presentation type.

Language selection for Abstracts
Abstracts can be submitted in the languages specified in each thematic group's guidelines. Detailed information is available in the PDF attachment describing the content and language options for each group. We have aimed to indicate the available languages in the titles of the thematic groups. However, please note that there may be some exceptions.

Publication

Call for papers: Education and Research: Towards a Sustainable and Global Future

We invite research articles based on presentations from the 2025 Education Days (Kasvatustieteen päivät) for inclusion in an edited volume to be published in the Kasvatusalan tutkimuksia (Research in Education) publication series. Manuscripts may be written in Finnish, Swedish, English, or Sámi.

Kasvatusalan tutkimuksia is a peer-reviewed scientific publication ranked at Level 1 in the Publication Forum JUFO. It follows a double-blind review process with at least two independent reviewers. The series is published by the Finnish Educational Research Association and is professionally edited at the Finnish Institute for Educational Research, at University of Jyväskylä.

Priority will be given to original research articles that explore educational perspectives on the sustainability transition and address contemporary themes that contribute to building a global future together. The sustainability transition calls for new and creative thinking and solutions from education, teaching, and research as foundations for a sustainable society.

The edited volume will be compiled by Rauni Äärelä-Vihriälä, Pigga Keskitalo, and Heli Ruokamo.

Authors are requested to submit an extended and refined abstract of approximately 500 words based on their abstract accepted for presentation at the 2025 Education Days
by 5th of January 2026 to rauni.aarela-vihriala@ulapland.fi (email subject line: KTP25 publication).

In the first stage of selection phase, the main criterion will be how well the proposal aligns with the conference theme.

The corresponding author will be notified whether the proposal has been accepted for further consideration or declined by 15 January 2026.

Final and polished article manuscripts (5,000–7,000 words) must be
submitted by 30 April 2026.

Based on peer review, final acceptance decisions will be made in autumn 2026, and the edited volume is planned for publication in early 2027.
