Thematic Groups and Symposia

The sustainability transition calls for new and creative thinking from the pedagogical, educational, and research fields to ensure a sustainable society. FERA invites its participants to discuss current themes to build a sustainable and global future.

Thematic groups

In thematic groups participants present and discuss ongoing or finished research in 90 minute sessions through methodological, theoretical and thematic questions. One session generally includes three presentations. Abstracts submitted to Thematic Groups will be reviewed by Thematic Group leaders.

There are only a couple of Thematic Group descriptions in English (links below), but you may submit your abstract in English to any group.

The recommended presentation time is approximately 15 minutes + 5 minutes for discussion. However, session leaders may instruct participants at the beginning of the session to use a different time allocation depending on the number of presentations in the session. You can check the number of presentations in your session in the summary files in the left-hand bar under the heading Conference Program.

Symposia

A symposium consists of 3-4 presentations, generally lasting 90 minutes. Participants have a possibility to delve deeper into more specific scientific subject areas and methodologies. Symposium coordinators are responsible for organizing the symposia.

This year's presenters and themes were chosen to form a coherent, thematic whole.

The symposium coordinators are responsible for arranging the symposium and for leading discussions as moderator at their respective symposia. The moderator has the responsibility to ensure that both presenters and attendees have a possibility to take part in active discussion. A discussant may be present. A discussant analyses and comments on presentations before general discussion, in addition to bringing new critical points of view to the themes presented.

Posters

In the Poster Exhibition participants have a possibility to present and discuss ongoing or finished research with the same scientific criteria as in paper sessions. Posters can be presented either by one person or a research group.
